Polish, polish and polish some more
In my reading recently, I’ve had a real sense of appreciation for those people who can write with an almost musical talent; the way their words flow tunefully like a wonderful song.
I think of the hours that Roald Dahl spent ensuring his manuscripts sang to children. It is easy to understand why they are so treasured to this day and, most likely, will be for many more generations.
Other stories, which seem to offer a similar song for children, include those by Emily Rodda, Anh Do and Aaron Blabey, with Nick Bland thrown in (What Bear type are you?).
These books, while in the children’s genre, certainly prove that literature can be music to your ears, as well as to your head. And, of course, your heart.
