How play equipment at a park can help you write your story and better relate to customers
What better way to finish the school holidays than a trip to the park.
You can let you mind wander while the kids get to ‘run off all that energy’.
When at a park, I usually have a pen or pencil and a notepad close by, to capture ideas and images as they pass my way.
During this park visit, my interest was drawn to the various equipment that was in the playground. Fancy slippery dips, a rock climbing wall and a tee pee, to mention a few.
My recollection of playgrounds, from my youth, were a few steel poles with some monkey bars. How times have changed. Ok, maybe the play equipment has changed but not the connectedness and sheer delight that the kids had running around on that equipment that I remember from my youth. Some things do stay the same.
This lead me to think about how comparison is a great way to help recollect stories, in particular using differences and similarities.
Statements like, ‘Think about how you do business today, as compared to how you did business five, or ten, years ago’ and ‘What other experiences can you share with your customers?’ and ‘What journey have you traveled that will assist your customers?’
It makes thinking of a story so much easier. Well, for me anyway.
To help me build on my ideas, I drew a few pictures to remind me of what I saw. It seems so easy to forget some of the simple messages and become caught up in the complex.
When you next are at a park could you jot down a few ideas about what you see and how this applies to your business?
Could you use those notes to create your book for your customers?
If you are not sure, send me an email dyan@dyanburgess.com and we can see what we can sort out.
In the meantime, enjoy your park time.
