…But there are already so many books in the world
“Do you wait for things to happen, or do you make them happen yourself? I believe in writing your own story.”
―
What has not been written about?
With millions of books uploaded and downloaded and shared and copied and transferred every minute, every day, every week why would you want to add another book into the mix?
It is difficult to find a topic that hasn’t already been written about in some way. However, this is not a reason to not write a book. Conversely, it is a great reason to write your book.
What? How can I even suggest that?
Some time ago, while listening to American life coach and author, Marie Forleo, she spoke about the importance of writing a book in your ‘own voice’ on your topic of expertise.
She points out that you have your own style, and there is a strong chance that your unique way of sharing your story, and your expertise, will resonate with an audience that had not previously understood your idea.
The example Marie provided, was her personal experience about how her partner kept suggesting that she try green juices and supplements for her health. This conversation went on for months without any recognition of what was being said when he was telling her the story. However, when Marie picked up a book about the same topic written by a friend of her’s, the book resonated with her personally. It was a total flip, then she was the person saying, “We should do this juice and supplement thing.” As you can imagine, eye roll emoji from the partner.
Can you relate to this? Have you ignored an idea for a week, months or years, then you read a book and that became a catalyst to change how you saw the idea. Perhaps another context could be when you are at a conference, you listen to two different people speak on the same topic; one of the presenters completely bamboozles you, and the other presenter completely captivates you.
Does this sound familiar?
This provides further support that your version the world could resonate with others.
We all have our own way of learning and understanding the information that passes into our field of vision. When you share your story, in your words, these may be what someone has been waiting for to provide benefit to them.
What are you waiting for?
We want to read your story.
