Audiobooks are Awesome
Since the beginning of 2015, we have started listening to audiobooks on a regular basis in the car with the kids.
For a start, it stops a lot of the arguments. Secondly, I can concentrate on driving. Perhaps the best reason is that it provides the kids with the opportunity to engage their minds in a fun way.
We are regular users of the Apps provided by Borrowbox and Audible.
Borrowbox is a free resource via your local library, while Audible requires a $15USD per month subscription (which includes one credit each month).
When the kids are not listening to books, I have a chance to listen to books of my choosing.
You do not realise how much you have processed, until an idea pops into your head, some days after listening to a book.
In relation to reference books, I still prefer paperbacks. Being able to handwrite notes and look at several pages at once has not made it into the digital age (yet). However, I find benefit in listening to audiobooks as it supports the learning from the paperbacks.
