Mind mapping – is it all it says it is?
Sketchnoting has become a popular trend over the last 12 months with Mike Rohde driving a group named the Sketch Note Army, which has taken a life of its own.
It was interesting reading a BrainHQ article further supporting “doodling” as a way to assist decoding and simplifying thought processes.
Personally, I find “doodling” a great method to help put pieces of the puzzle together when I hear particularly complex information.
While some people can sketch particularly neatly, as Mike notes it does not need to be that complex.
Simple circles and squares with your scribbled notes in between can be a great way to segment the information that you are absorbing. The Sketchnote Army provides examples of the full range of skills. I have a copy of Mike’s book and review it on a regular basis to improve my skills in this area and make better connections while I am noting my thoughts.
