Why people don’t publish
Last year I was lucky enough to hear Andrew Griffiths speak about content creation and book publishing.
He suggests that the best way to show you are an expert in your field is to create, curate and share your own content, particularly in the form of a published book (which he likens to a business card on steroids!).
His top reasons for why people don’t publish are:
- No plan/no template
- Listen to wrong people
- Struggle to get a clear message
- Don’t get started
- Fear of failure
Additionally, his top reasons why the book doesn’t go are:
- Write a really bad book
- Don’t have a process to follow
- Fail to provide a decent author platform
- Don’t promote the book
- Don’t leverage the book
According to Andrew ‘content is currency’. So what content have you created and how do you plan to curate and share it?
